GENERAL INFORMATION
ACADEMICS: The Bible is taught in each classroom as a vital part of each child’s development. Committed and degreed teachers will use
top quality curriculum materials to promote spiritual and academic excellence in all core areas using a variety of teaching methods and modalities. Our reading instruction is based on phonics. All curricula are taught in an atmosphere of love, constructive discipline and respect for God and others.
SPECIAL SUBJECTS: All kindergarten and elementary classes will participate in weekly chapel, and weekly instruction in art, music and physical education.
TESTING: All students in kindergarten through fifth grade will be given the Iowa Test of Basic Skills during the spring semester. This national achievement test ranks our students with students their age in reading, math, language arts, social studies and science.
BIRTH CERTIFICATES & HEALTH RECORDS: An official Bureau of Vital Statistics or Health Department birth certificate must be presented with each registration. A written record of the child’s immunizations (DPT, polio, measles, mumps and rubella) must also be presented. Health forms are available in the school office.
NEW AND TRANSFER STUDENTS: C.C.S. teachers and staff will work with new and transfer students for a 6-week period. At the end of this period, an evaluation will be made to determine if the child’s academic placement and behavior are appropriate. If necessary, a conference will be held with parents of the student.
LUNCH: Children bring their own lunches. Microwaves are available to heat lunch items. Milk is available for purchase each day. It may also be purchased for the whole year at a discount.
CLASS TIMES: Kindergarten and elementary classes begin at 8:15 a.m. and dismiss at 3:00 p.m.
